PLDT Enterprise partners with Nabstract to enable secure user authentication via open network APIs

04 November 2025

PLDT’s corporate arm, PLDT Enterprise, announced on Monday a strategic partnership with API exposure platform developer Nabstract to enhance user authentication processes by leveraging open network APIs instead of traditional one-time passwords (OTPs).

As part of this collaboration, PLDT’s mobile unit, Smart Communications, will integrate Nabstract’s Service Exposure Platform (SEP) into its network infrastructure to support PLDT Enterprise’s SmartSafe SilentAccess solution, which is part of the broader SmartSafe fraud management API suite.

This new approach will enable seamless login and transaction experiences for users by eliminating the need for OTPs sent via SMS, which are often targeted by phishing schemes and scams. The integration aims to provide real-time fraud detection capabilities for businesses across banking, e-commerce, and SMEs, helping protect customer data, reduce financial losses, and strengthen digital trust.

Nico Alcoseba, first vice president and head of product management at PLDT Enterprise, stated that with the GSMA Open Gateway API Certification, the company is taking bold steps to future-proof businesses by offering seamless, fraud-resistant solutions that allow them to serve their customers confidently. Vaibhav Mehta, founder and director of Nabstract, added that the partnership aims to empower businesses with scalable, efficient, and highly secure network API integrations.

Both PLDT, Smart Communications, and PLDT Enterprise joined the GSMA Open Gateway initiative in June 2024. Nabstract is a certified Open Gateway Channel Partner under this initiative, reflecting their commitment to delivering secure and innovative API-enabled solutions in the digital ecosystem.
