Nokia has announced a contract extension with Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), reaffirming its commitment to enhancing Vietnam’s mobile network infrastructure. The provider will focus on upgrading and expanding radio network coverage across Hanoi, border provinces, and the southern regions of Vietnam.
Using its advanced AirScale portfolio, powered by ReefShark System-on-Chip technology, Nokia aims to deliver more energy-efficient and reliable connectivity solutions. The company also reaffirmed plans to establish manufacturing facilities in Vietnam, supporting local industry development.
This network upgrade is expected to significantly improve mobile coverage, especially in border regions that are vital for economic and social activities. VNPT CEO Huynh Quang Liem emphasised that extending the partnership with Nokia is a strategic move to strengthen Vietnam’s telecommunications and digital infrastructure, aligning with the country’s goals of increasing connectivity for individuals, businesses, and government services.
Hiro Miura, Nokia’s head of Southeast Asia market, highlighted that the expansion will enhance access to essential digital services, thereby driving economic growth and improving quality of life across Vietnam. This collaboration underscores Nokia’s ongoing commitment to supporting Vietnam’s digital transformation ambitions through innovative network solutions.
