APAC’s mobile broadband revenue expected to grow at 5.2%

Mobile broadband service revenue in the Asia-Pacific region is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.2%, from US$229.6 billion in 2024 to US$296.2 billion over the next four years, driven by the availability and adoption of 5G services.

According to GlobalData, unique mobile user penetration across the Asia-Pacific will reach 82.9% by 2029, as mobile coverage is expanded in underserved regions and operators push promotions.

Saturated developed markets in Asia will see flat growth, with a 4% CAGR in subscribers, whereas emerging markets will grow rapidly due to affordable handsets and local government schemes to improve mobile coverage. Taiwan, Singapore, China, South Korea, and Japan are the key markets in terms of 5G subscriptions as a percentage of total subscriptions.

“With 5G services already available in most developed countries like China, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, India, and Korea, and set to be launched soon in emerging markets like Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, revenue prospects for the mobile data segment will remain strong throughout the forecast period,” said GlobalData Telecom Analyst Sarwat Zeeshan.
