Vietnam to auction 2500-2600MHz for 5G

01 November 2023

Vietnam's Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) has reportedly approved a plan to auction radio frequencies in the 2500-2600MHz band for 5G mobile services.

Auction winners must deploy at least 3,000 5G broadcasting stations using the 2500-2600MHz band within two years. They must also commit to launching commercial 5G services using the band within the first 12 months. Licensees are also expected to adhere to the MIC’s QoS regulations for local and roaming telecoms services.

The licenses will be for 15 years. The starting price for a 2500-2600MHz licence is VND3.9 trillion. The reservation deposit is VND200 billion.

In addition to the 2500-2600MHz band, MIC also plans to sell spectrum in the 700MHz and 3700MHz bands by the end of this year.
