The partnership aims to enhance local technical expertise and promote sustainability within the country’s telecom sector.
Under the agreement, both organizations will collaborate to establish a Battery Repair and Refurbishment Centre at TSS’s facilities. The initiative focuses on extending the lifespan of lithium-ion batteries, reducing electronic waste, and fostering local skills in power management systems. Edotco Bangladesh will supply technical expertise, diagnostic frameworks, and training programs to build TSS’s capacity, while TSS will provide the necessary facilities, utilities, and workforce to ensure efficient operations.
Building on the successful feasibility phase, the partnership plans to expand into additional areas such as battery assembly, smart poles, and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, further advancing sustainable infrastructure development in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Edotco’s commitment to eco-friendly solutions extends beyond Bangladesh. In Malaysia, Edotco has introduced the country’s first biochar telecommunication pole at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). The biochar pole delivers a 10% to 15% reduction in carbon emissions compared to traditional concrete poles, offering a climate-conscious alternative for network deployment. Its lighter yet stronger composition allows for easier installation and transportation, enhancing network resilience while reducing environmental impact.
Biochar, a porous material produced via pyrolysis of organic waste such as agricultural residues and biomass, helps create a circular economy by converting waste into sustainable construction materials that lower greenhouse gases. This innovative milestone was achieved through collaboration with PMW Industries, Edotco’s manufacturing partner for biochar-enhanced poles. Together, they aim to develop a circular and sustainable telecommunications infrastructure that shapes the future of Malaysia’s network landscape.
