Maxis and Aduna to boost digital innovation through standardised network APIs

25 July 2025

Maxis has announced a strategic partnership with Aduna aimed at promoting the adoption of standardised network APIs across Malaysia and accelerating digital innovation for businesses. The agreement was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding signed at the GSMA’s Digital Nation Summit in Singapore.

Under this partnership, Maxis will offer developers and enterprises access to Aduna’s global platform of common network APIs, empowering them to utilise Maxis’ connectivity and network capabilities to create new applications and services. The initial focus will be on APIs such as Number Verification, SIM Swap, KYC Match, and Location Verification, all designed to combat digital fraud and enhance the security of online transactions. These services are expected to be particularly beneficial for sectors like financial services and e-commerce.

Maxis chief enterprise business officer Prateek Pashine highlighted that this collaboration would enable the development of more secure and user-centric services, supported by seamless access to advanced network APIs. The partnership with Aduna, which combines and offers network APIs from multiple operators globally, aims to simplify the integration process for developers. Aduna’s platform currently includes major operators such as América Móvil, AT&T, Bharti Airtel, Deutsche Telekom, NTT Docomo, Orange, Reliance Jio, Singtel, SoftBank, Telefonica, Telstra, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Vodafone.

Launched earlier this year following its announcement by Ericsson in September 2024, Aduna leverages CAMARA-based network APIs built on the GSMA Open Gateway framework. Its goal is to address the challenges developers face when integrating capabilities from numerous telecom operators, which traditionally requires individual connections to each. By providing access to APIs from multiple providers simultaneously, Aduna enables developers to scale their applications more efficiently and broaden their ecosystem of developer platforms.

Maxis’ local rival, CelcomDigi, also entered into a partnership with Aduna earlier this year at Mobile World Congress 2025. During the same event, Aduna announced a collaboration with the Bridge Alliance, whose Bridge API Exchange (BAEx), launched in July 2024, offers similar services to its 34 member operator network, including Maxis.
While Maxis remains the only Malaysian operator in the Bridge Alliance, all five major Malaysian telcos — CelcomDigi, Maxis, Telekom Malaysia, U Mobile, and YTL Communications — are members of the GSMA Open Gateway initiative, reinforcing Malaysia’s commitment to advancing open network APIs and digital innovation.
