The deployment aims to provide comprehensive and continuous 5G coverage across Bandung City, Bandung Regency, Cimahi, and Kertajati International Airport.
Telkomsel has highlighted that its 5G sites are strategically placed throughout Bandung and surrounding regions, including key locations such as shopping and entertainment centres, government offices like Gedung Sate, Bandung Square, and Al-Jabbar Mosque, educational institutions including Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Padjadjaran University (UNPAD), and Telkom University, as well as major transportation hubs like the Indonesia–China High-Speed Train Station (KCIC) and Kertajati International Airport. The network also covers prominent sports venues such as Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium (GBLA).
Telkomsel reported that 23% of mobile devices in Greater Bandung now support 5G, with an average daily internet consumption of 202 GB per user per month. Speed tests of the network reveal maximum download speeds of up to 730 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 161 Mbps, with significantly lower latency and four times higher throughput compared to 4G networks.
“The expansion of Telkomsel's Hyper 5G network in Greater Bandung is part of our ongoing efforts to build equitable and high-quality digital connectivity throughout Indonesia,” said Indra Mardiatna, Telkomsel’s Network Director.
This expansion follows Telkomsel’s recent 5G deployments in other major cities, including Jabodetabek, Surabaya, Makassar, and Batam, reinforcing its strategic focus on enhancing nationwide digital infrastructure to support Indonesia’s digital economy growth.
