Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Tejas Networks have secured a significant contract from state-owned telecom operator BSNL.

TCS has received an advance purchase order valued at approximately INR 29.03 billion for planning, engineering, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and annual maintenance of BSNL’s 4G network across 18,685 sites.

Part of this work will involve Tejas Networks, which is expected to supply radio access network (RAN) equipment and other hardware worth about INR 15.3 billion before tax.

This contract is part of a larger, comprehensive INR 190 billion deal, led by TCS and including the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) and public sector company ITI Limited, to develop a commercial 4G network and upgrade it to 5G.

Tejas Networks has been involved with BSNL for some time, notably winning a INR 74.9 billion contract in August 2023 for gear supply and ongoing support for the operator’s 4G/5G infrastructure. The company is currently in discussions for additional deals to expand and upgrade BSNL’s network further.

This strategic deployment marks a major step in BSNL’s network modernization efforts, supporting India’s broader push towards enhanced 4G and 5G connectivity nationwide.
