The launch was achieved through collaboration with regional telecom partners and global hyperscalers, with India’s Reliance Jio leading the project.
The IAX cable links Mumbai and Chennai to Singapore and connects with the India-Europe-Xpress (IEX) cable in Mumbai, providing routes to the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. The system features 12 landing stations across five countries, including branches in Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Malaysia, with the main trunk running from Tuas in Singapore to Mumbai.
Dialog states that the IAX cable significantly enhances Sri Lanka’s international connectivity by offering high-speed, high-capacity bandwidth. It integrates seamlessly with Dialog’s existing subsea infrastructure, enabling scalable and efficient data transmission between key content hubs in Mumbai, Chennai, and Singapore.
Additionally, by complementing existing systems such as the Bay of Bengal Gateway (BBG) and Maldives-Sri Lanka Cable (MSC), the IAX system improves network reliability and reduces risks associated with single points of failure. Dialog’s advanced cable landing stations in Matara (southern coast) and Mount Lavinia (Colombo) ensure continuous, reliable connectivity, providing businesses and consumers with a more secure and resilient digital experience.
