Globe Telecom and GoTyme to share data to combat fraud

Globe Telecom has signed a data-sharing agreement (DSA) with digital bank GoTyme in a move to combat digital fraud and other online financial crimes.

Under the agreement, Globe will share with GoTyme information related to mobile numbers potentially being used by fraudsters, to include names, addresses, and contact details.

Globe said that the data-sharing arrangement would help law enforcement officials and courts obtain information about suspected scammers faster, rather than spend months seeking a warrant to access the same info.

The DSA with GoTyme is a response to a call by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and the National Privacy Commission for financial institutions and telcos to work together to fight fraud.
“This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to championing cybersecurity and protecting our customers from the growing threats in the digital world,” said Globe’s chief privacy officer Irish Salandanan-Almeida.

"This DSA with Globe augments the bank's cybersecurity systems and measures to protect customers from cyber criminals and fraudsters,” said GoTyme chief information security officer Albert Dela Cruz.
