CelcomDigi has partnered with Sarawakian telecom infrastructure specialist Borneo Restu to enhance high-speed internet access across Sarawak under the Point of Presence (PoP) Phase 2 project, supporting the state's ongoing digital transformation strategy.

The PoP Phase 2 project is designed to improve connectivity across Sarawak, focusing on expanding internet access in both suburban and rural areas, particularly in schools.

The Ministry of Communications allocated RM 3.9 billion in 2023 for the PoP Phase 2 project, covering 3,693 sites nationwide, with RM 1.08 billion allocated for 681 sites in Sarawak.

CelcomDigi said it is also involved in the SMART600 project, which aims to improve digital connectivity in rural Sarawak. Currently, the company's 4G coverage in populated areas of Sarawak stands at 90%.
