SLT-Mobitel has expanded its partnership with insurance company Union Assurance to enable its customers to access tailored life insurance plans via its mobile money platform mCash.
Under a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), SLT-Mobitel mCash customers can use the payment system to register for and purchase premium life insurance solutions from Union Assurance.
SLT-Mobitel said that the plans are affordable and the registration process simple and easy. The operator will also facilitate access to Union Assurance advisors to help customers pick the most suitable policy. The new MoU is an extension of an existing partnership between SLT-Mobitel and Union Assurance dating back to 2014.
“The emphasis on financial inclusion and the positive impact on the Sri Lankan community suggests a commitment to making life insurance more accessible and beneficial for a broader audience,” said Mobitel COO Sudharshana Geeganage.
“Given the economic challenges faced, there is an increased importance of addressing and narrowing the financial protection gap in Sri Lanka,” said Union Assurance CEO Senath Jayatilake. “As such, we are committed to leveraging innovative measures such as this partnership to offer premier life insurance solutions and contribute towards reducing the financial vulnerability faced by individuals in the country.”
