The Asia-Pacific region is on course to see remarkable growth in 5G connectivity, with subscriptions projected to hit 4.6 billion by 2030, up from 2.7 billion in 2025, according to a report from GlobalData.
The industry analyst firm forecasts an annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.4%, fuelled by the increasing availability of affordable 5G devices, ongoing network rollouts across major markets, and upcoming commercial launches in countries like Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Nokia has announced a strategic partnership with RailTel to enhance its Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) National Long-Distance (NLD) network and metro optical transport systems across India. The collaboration, carried out alongside Nokia’s authorized partners, involved deploying advanced Nokia equipment to bolster network capacity and performance.
As part of the upgrade, Nokia installed its 7750 Service Router (SR), which is integrated with broadband network gateway (BNG) and CG-NAT functionalities. Nokia claims this setup enables RailTel’s network to efficiently manage enterprise-grade high-speed traffic alongside internal ISP services. The upgraded infrastructure also features Nokia’s 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) and cutting-edge transponder technology, which significantly increases transport capacity while reducing the cost per bit.

Bharti Airtel has raised concerns over the quality of equipment installed by domestic vendor Tejas Networks, claiming that sub-standard hardware is causing disruptions in its network in the Rajasthan circle.
According to reports, Airtel has accused Tejas of deploying equipment that interferes with its operations, specifically in the 900-MHz band, due to issues related to spectrum overlap.
