Solomon Telekom and Telecom Fiji have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening technical cooperation and supporting skills development within the telecommunications sector across the Pacific Islands.
This partnership focuses on capacity building by offering specialized training programs for Solomon Telekom’s engineers and technical staff.
Under the agreement, Telecom Fiji will provide hands-on training to Solomon Telekom personnel in areas such as fibre network planning, design, operation, internet and broadband systems, and network optimization. Leveraging its extensive experience in optical fibre technology — from initial network planning to daily operations — Telecom Fiji will equip Solomon Telekom staff with practical skills and knowledge essential for modern telecommunications infrastructure.
“The MoU with Solomon Telekom marks an important milestone in fostering stronger regional partnerships across the Pacific Islands. By sharing our technical expertise, we aim to bolster telecommunications capacity and accelerate digital connectivity in the region,” said Telecom Fiji’s CEO, Charles Goundar.
The MoU was signed last month by Goundar and Solomon Telekom CEO Christina Lasaqa during a strategy forum hosted by the Pacific Islands Telecommunications Association, highlighting the commitment of Pacific nations to collaborative growth and regional integration in the digital economy.
