Intelsat has partnered with Solomon Telekom Company Limited (STCL) to expand cellular connectivity across dozens of remote sites in the Solomon Islands.
Using Intelsat’s Horizons 3e high-throughput satellite, the collaboration includes managed services with proactive monitoring and 24/7 support to ensure seamless cell backhaul operations.
STCL CEO Christina Lasaqa highlighted that the initiative will bring 4G mobile services to outer islands, enabling access to mobile broadband, e-financial services, and enterprise applications, aligning with the goal of providing fast internet to all Solomon Islanders, even in the most isolated regions.
Nigel Stitt, Senior Sales Director at Intelsat APAC, emphasized their tailored solutions and rapid deployment capabilities, which are crucial in underserved communities. The partnership has led to improved voice quality and increased data usage in remote areas, matching the service standards of urban centres.
This collaboration aims to drive digital transformation and bridge connectivity gaps in the Pacific Islands, empowering local communities with reliable mobile services.
