Cisco Systems is in advanced talks to buy out Airtel-Vodafone Idea’s Wi-Fi JV, Firefly Networks, for an undisclosed fee, according to reports in India.

It is understood a team of exeutives from the US recently visited India to all but close the deal.

Firefly Networks launched in 2014, but neither invested has been fully committed.Reports also suggest Cisco is likely to retain the existing management of FireFly Networks, which is headed up by chief executive officer Raj Sethia, a former Vodafone executive.

Meanwhile,Vodafone Idea said it plans to offer its mobility and integrated internet of things (IoT) solutions, including cloud telephony and auto-receptionist, to nearly 250,000 micro, small and medium enterprises over the next year, a top company executive is reported to have said.
